Elpico AC88 (Sound City Super 20) PA Amp
A rare British-made, early 60s Elpico valve-rectified amp head in good condition and superb working order. It's had a full overhaul/service including new custom-wound transformers and sounds absolutely superb.
It has the full complement of original Mullard valves: 2 x EL84, 3 x ECC83, 1 x EZ81 - all tested and working and screened by our tech for better performance - he's really gone to town on this one and it shows.
The knobs are replacements and it has dings and signs of age as you would expect, but overall it's looking pretty good for its age. Click on the photos to zoom in and see more shots.
It's a real tone monster and a sleeper - if it had a Marshall or Vox badge it'd be worth a small fortune.
Elpico amps were used by Paul McCartney and Dave Davies in the Beatles' and Kinks' early days.
It is a UK 240v model and will require a step-up transformer for use in Canada and USA. The UK plug will be removed before shipping to the EU/Australia unless otherwise requested.
