Dolby System A-Type Model 361 - Modified

Fully serviced and with the modded CAT22 card fitted - the "vocal stressor" or "stretch" mod.

These units were very expensive in their day and are incredibly well built. They have very high quality transformers going in and out and the sound is excellent. As used by Peter Gabriel, Journey etc.

We currently have two of these units available and they are slightly different (see the other one listed here). These are some quick notes from the engineer who worked on them.

Some general points on using these units:

• Use as send effect, blend with original (it is in phase)
• Experiment with drive levels for best results
• More drive = less effect (but more level obviously)
• CAT22 cards have all been modded with “jumperless” mod (aka the "vocal stressor" or "stretch" mod)
• This disables compression on 2 of the 4 frequency bands, producing the effect that people use these modded units for: it adds a certain "air" or clarity to the top end and is especially good on vocals, acoustic guitars etc.
• Note that as it is modded this machine is no longer suitable for tape noise reduction.

Notes on this machine:

• Model 361
• Serial: 8029
• on this unit use “Line IN” as input and “to REC” as output
• “to mon” can be used as dry out if required if “normal” depressed
• Meter is not working
• Unit has been serviced. Connectors cleaned including card edge connectors. Power supply and signal caps replaced on interfaces. Relay sockets cleaned. All lamps working.
• Switchable voltage.
• Mains is via a captive lead - plug will be changed for the buyer's country if required.
